Value City is really a mixed bag with important advantages and disadvantages.

Value City is really a mixed bag with important advantages and disadvantages.I'll start with the good. They have an excellent selection of furniture, all you could see and experience in person at their showrooms. It is very important to me, as a Research impressive furniture in an online retailer might not be very comfortable, after all once it arrives. Also very importantly, their furnishings are relatively affordable. You get a much better choice than American Freight, furniture tend to be better built and more comfortable than Ikea, and the prices are much lower than some of the other major furniture retailers.

That said, it is important to keep in mind that it's still a discount furniture store. The large leather sectional sofa I bought them 1.5 years ago is still in good shape, although one of the sections was disjointed and had to be sent immediately. Fortunately the replacement was very resistant. If you are looking for quality furniture heritage to pass on to your children and grandchildren, I doubt Value City is the right choice for you. Personally, I have a young child and two dogs, so I'm quite okay with a sofa that will last me 10 years at a discount price. I do not want to buy only one La-Z Boy recliner $ 1,000 to have my daughter milk spill everywhere.

Looking at the negatives, the quality of the furniture is to be noted that not exceptional. As I said, I had to send some of my back cut leather because of the poor quality of construction. Their delivery service is risky typical. I bought a bed, dresser and two reclining seat them last week and the delivery guy showed right on time six days later. Unfortunately, the chair was damaged in transit and I had to send it back. I had similar problems with other furniture stores and home appliance stores like Lowe's and Home Depot, so it is more revealing of the American poor delivery system that specifically Value City.

Where Value City fails spectacular is the after-sales service in case of problems. Their problem is that you get the run around. You call the store you purchased your product from and they tell you that you need to speak to the distribution center because the showroom does not address delivery problems. Call the distribution center and not answered, and they do not have voice mail. You finally get hold of someone at the distribution center and they tell you to call the showroom again because your furniture is shipped directly from the showroom and not the distribution center . You call back the showroom and they tell you that you need to speak with a manager.

You speak with the manager and he told you to go back into the store to talk in person with your original sales guy. You drive back into the showroom and the type of sales is too busy with a client so you get kicked to the manager. The manager takes care of your problem, get a new set of sofa to be delivered, and promises to call you later that day with the new delivery date. He never calls. So you call the next morning and they tell you the manager is out of the office until noon. And here I am, waiting until noon in the hope of whether the replacement of the sofa which was damaged during transport can be delivered to me as I still have free time during the holidays. So basically Value City is a good value as you set your expectations appropriately. It could even be a great experience if everything goes well. If something goes wrong, expect a lot of pain trying to get things sorted.
